A New Place For The Youth

Sunday Jan. 28, 2007- Starting in the Spring of 2006 the Calvary Baptist Church in Staunton started its planning for a new youth center called Crosstown. Construction started in Aug. of 2006 and was recently completed. This afternoon the youth center held its open house. The old sanctuary portion of the church was the sight where the new youth center took shape. Members of all ages put in their time to make the project happen, not only in money but, also in labor.

The Church wanted to use influences of local historic Downtown Staunton in the theme of Crosstown. Set into the walls of the main hall are store fronts and a fire house, with what seemed to be random numbers, but in fact represent chapters and verses from the bible to be used as teaching tools.

While church members toured the new youth center, there was a chillie fundraiser to raise funds for Crosstown and the activities of the Calvary’s youth program.

Crosstown is going to be used for Sunday school and Wednesday Night meetings for teens, grades 6-12 at 6:30pm.

Calvary Baptist Church - Open House of our new Crosstown Youth Center.

We have a very special event happening at Calvary Baptist this Sunday Jan. 28, 2007 the Dedication and Open House of our new Crosstown Youth Center. The Service begins at 10:00 A.M. in the main Sanctuary and will be led by our Youth with Associate Pastor Jamie McClanahan bringing the message. Following the service will be a fundraiser luncheon served by the youth in the gym (with all donations going towards the youth center). After the luncheon everyone is invited upstairs to an Open House of the new Youth Center. This will be a very special day in the life of our church and especially our youth, many of whom have worked very hard in the construction of the center.

Calvary Baptist Church is located at 105 Garland Drive, Staunton. Take I-81, exit 220, go 5 miles on 262 bypass to Morris Mill Road exit.
